Job Description

Configuration across one system is difficult enough.

Try keeping it consistent across D365, Azure, a data platform, multiple delivery streams and 7 or 8 different environments...all changing at the same time.

No, seriously, try it. That's the challenge here.

I'm working with a client going through a large scale digital transformation who needs a Technical Configuration Manager to bring some control and consistency  to configuration across their Microsoft estate.

This isn't a role where you'll personally own every parameter, ARM file or deployment. Your mission, if you choose to accept it (sorry, that was lazy) is to make sure the people who do are aligned.

My client needs someone who can  maintain a clear view of what's configured where, identify drift between environments, coordinate dependencies across different platform teams and make sure configuration is properly understood and ready ahead of releases.

Here’s what you'll be doing:

  • Coordinating configuration across multiple platforms and 7–8 environments

  • Maintaining configuration baselines and tracking differences between environments

  • Identifying configuration drift, dependencies and potential conflicts

  • Working closely with platform, environment and release teams

  • Supporting release readiness and ensuring configuration changes are properly evidenced

  • Tracking actions through Azure DevOps and making sure ownership is clear

  • Identifying opportunities to automate configuration comparison and visibility

Here’s what you’ll need to apply:

  • Experience managing or coordinating configuration, environments, releases or change across a complex technology estate.

  • This is heavily Microsoft-focused, so experience around Dynamics 365, Azure and Azure DevOps would be particularly useful.

You don't need to be the person writing all of the code, but you absolutely need enough technical understanding to be comfortable around Infrastructure as Code, ARM/Bicep, pipelines and automated deployments, and understand how changes in one part of the estate can impact another.

This is an initial 6 month contract, starting ASAP, paying around £500–£550 per day outside IR35 and can be delivered fully remotely from anywhere in the UK.
